Behold, new things have come.: My first (and probably only) experience in a mega church
Yesterday, my roommates and I rolled out of bed early to trek to Alexandria, Virginia for a day of adventure outside of the hustle and bustle of Washington, D.C.
One roommate had a church recommended to her by a friend and she was adamant about attending it. The church shall remain nameless.
…
The only time I’ve ever been to a non-Catholic (well in this case, also non-Christian) worship service was sacrament meeting at the LDS/Mormon meetinghouse. This post echoes my thoughts exactly. Being in a non-Catholic/Orthodox church building just feels totally different. This especially:
After my experience there, I am so much more grateful for the opportunity to receive Christ Himself in the Eucharist to strengthen me in my prayers and journey on this earth and humbled by the very idea that He loves me enough to provide me with His body and blood.
My heart breaks for those who cannot experience or who dismiss Christ’s sacrifice made present in the Eucharist. My heart breaks for those who seem to be living in the lies that their faiths have been buying into and selling back to their followers.
Going to a non-Catholic church service reaffirmed my faith in the True Presence of Christ and in the Eucharist and how empty that LDS sacrament meeting felt without the Eucharist and being nourished with the Body and Blood of my Savior.
A good read. It’s harsh but sometimes I see them as children. There are a lot of groups on my campus that have shown me this side of Christianity. The main thing I see is they have all these emotions and feelings but they don’t know what to do with it. I feel like they don’t give enough back to God. They feel good and go to sleep that night. Catholicism is this constant stream of sacraments, penance, prayer and holiness. Not to say our Church is the only way, but I do believe it is the best way…we have so much more grace.

I went to a reformed church down the street from my house a years ago - I went in and started to genuflect and realized that would be a give away, but highlighting no tabernacle. I knew something was missing. It was like a good talk - but that’s all.
